Expert advice

Advisory groups

I sit on the advisory groups to major reproductive and maternity research programmes, including:

The WRISK project which aims to improve the communication of risk related to pregnancy.

The ASPIRE Covid-19 project. This is researching the Covid-19 responses of maternity services in the UK and Netherlands, in order to work out what works best to ensure safe and personalised care for mothers, babies, and partners during and after a pandemic.

I am on the PPIE Advisory group for the NIHR ARC South London Maternity and Perinatal Mental Health research theme.

Other expert roles

I am a lay examiner for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

I also work with international colleagues on reproductive justice cases in the US.

From 2016-2019 I held a Ministerial appointment to the Independent Monitoring Board of HMP Downview.

Over the same period, I was also Vice-Chair of the Maternity Voices Partnership, working to improve maternity services at Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust.
